Recycling Team is led by the Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS), University of Applied Sciences Trier. There are 15 partners from China and Germany in the team.
Recycling Team focuses on developing new, systemic material flow management concepts combined with micro-economic methods and strategies for establishing pilot projects at our research sites in China, aiming at recycling organic residues and meanwhile reducing pollution, abating greenhouse gas emissions, producing organic fertilizer, generating renewable energy and increasing regional added value in both rural and urban areas of China.
The goals will be achieved through the approaches of regional material flow management, stakeholders’ involvement, innovative financing and implementation schemes (Public Private Partnership (PPP), Build Operate Transfer (BOT), Build Operate Own (BOO)) as well as technology transfer.
Five research sites in Shaanxi, Shandong, Jiangxi provinces and Changping district (Beijing) have been selected to identify and optimize their potentials for developing economically viable and ecologically sound pilot projects. The pilot projects aim to use organic residues as input substrates for large-scale biogas plant producing electricity, heat, organic fertilizer and thereby reducing of green house gas emissions.
